Ward Builders craft quality decks, patios & outdoor entertaining areas suitable for any home or business. Outdoor living and entertaining is a quint essential of Sunshine Coast life. Our completed new outdoor space, renovation or extension will guarantee positive equity injection into your home.
Some of our recent projects have involved creating extra outdoor areas on front boundaries. On show to passers by and under utilised, owners have been able to reclaim their land. By establishing retaining walls, privacy screens and fencing, owners have full private use of land to the boundary. And in complete privacy. Talk to us if you have an outside area you cannot use without the neighbours watching you.
“Ward Builders will arrange everything from the ground up”
Ward Builders will arrange everything from the ground up including certification. Even point you in the right direction for a council relaxation application or design plans if they’re required.
We’ll facilitate a custom design in the materials, style and finish that you are searching for. From hardwood, to pine, to composite decking, tiled or even contemporary ground concrete finishes for the look that best suits you.
Treated pine or hardwood?
Seems an age old question that we are often asked by clients on decking projects. Essentially it comes down to your preference.
Treated Pine: A lightweight wood in weight and in colour, easy to carry and work with and is cheap to supply. On the downside it is prone to noticeable warping because it expands and cracks following wet to hot conditions. For this reason its not an ideal material for a deck. Left natural, after a while it becomes a weathered grey shade. But it can also be stained in a range of colours if you prefer.
Hardwoods: A heavy duty wood with a natural deep reddish colour. Hardwood varieties have less knots and is less prone to warping from the elements. In terms of cost, it is more costly initially but pays off due to its natural durability. Aesthetically it looks great and what we recommend for decks.
When it comes to the roof style of your patio, we recommend a fly over patio roof style. This design has ample ventilation, modernises older homes and compliments the new ones. There are further options and you can read more by clicking here to read our blog information section.

This is the second time we have used Ward Builders and I would recommend them to everyone given their first class service. It is not only the professionalism and quality of their work but the fact we were able to discuss various options and get ideas from them which was extremely useful. Big thanks to Ray, Jason and the team for an exceptional piece of work which has helped us maximise the space at the front of our house and given us a great outdoor living area. We are now looking at getting new decking/patios done at the back of the house and will be using Ward Builders again for this given the quality of their work.C & J Barclay, Mt Coolum
